About Me

Petra Daecke

The impact of paintings can be immediate and lasting; it is a universal language that speaks to all people with layers of meaning.

I endeavour to communicate not only the visual rhythms and patterns of a place, but more importantly a feeling or spiritual atmosphere, always aiming to inspire people to reconnect to nature and its life-giving quality.

My favourite medium is pastel with its vibrancy of colours and possibilities of textures and I love oils for their versatility and rich glow. Using only quality pastels, paints and surfaces ensures lasting enjoyment of the finished paintings.

I was born and raised in Germany and live now on the Gold Coast in Australia since 1988. My extensive travels have taken me through many countries with a diversity of vegetation, climate and cultures and I always love to learn and explore more.

From my own experience, spending time in the natural landscape allows me to reflect; it restores my energy and brings peace and wisdom through opening my senses to my surroundings.

In today’s busy world with all its challenges, having beautiful paintings of landscapes on your walls brings nature right into your home.
